Devotion 7/17
Luke
Ch1
Zechariah's encounter with Gabriel. It's interesting that before John was born, God had a destiny and plan for him.
Luke 1:13-17
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
God had planned great plans for john before he came to earth. So I wonder, do God plan a destiny for you and I long before we were born? Yes! Ephesians 1- God had chose us before the foundation of the earth. God had planed in HIs great mind way before he create the world. The trinity reason among themselves and plan for every human soul. Holy Spirit, Father would it please you if we have make them in our likeness? Father, that's brilliant! Not only that, they're gonna share in greatness and glory. The son, Father! That is awesome! Make them my bride! I wanted to marry them and share eternity with them!
I believe Luke chapter 1 is about faith, about believe the word of the Lord. We see 2 difference people had visitation for an angel. One heard the word and his heart was hardened because the word is unbelievable. Zachariah was in his old age, it is impossible to bear child. For his unbelieving heart, God made him mute for a season, until he truly believe and glorify God, he broke out with praises until the Holy One! Mary received even a harder word. Mary had not gotten married yet, she is a virgin. No woman in history can be pregnant, this is just impossible in the natural. Through out the history it's been told it's impossible. But what's impossible to man it's not impossible to God. The amazing thing is Mary received the word with obedience. She replied (verse 38) I am the Lord's servant, may it be to me as you have said."
LUke 1:45
"Blessed is she who had believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"
Blessed are those who believed and do not doubt, blessed are those who had child like faith, who take God's word as it is. For theirs is the kingdom of heaven, for they shall enter in the Kingdom with great joy. For without faith, we cannot please God. But with faith, father is pleased beyond description. So Lord I believe, help me in my unbelief.
