Races in Film

I just saw the movie "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" I know for you religious out there... Such a worldly movie. But I'm gonna tell you, I like that movie. Here's why:

1. Chinese American had been oppressed and wrongly presented media for centuries. One rarely see Hollywood made Chinese story lines with mostly Chinese Actors in it.
2. Chinese American Community is very segregated from the White American society. This is because of the fear that media spread, and also much persecution towards foreigner during the gold rush and beyond. But this film had a interracial relationship which broke through the barrier between two races. The Chinese woman in the movie is not white washed or Americanized as many interracial families today. But she gets to keep her own culture, while the white male embraces the Chinese culture.
3. It gives a poor picture of the raising of the dead in the movie, if you wonder what Ezekiel was talking about of massive resurrection, I encourage you to watch it. Cause it's gonna happen believe or not.
4. The family values that the movie promotes: The father and the son reconciled with each other, and the whole family was brought together in unity. You see the emergence of the two generation: Moses and Joshua generation.
5. Sacrifices that the characters make, we can sacrifice our own lives for the benefits of others because of love, this is how Jesus lived on earth.

Although I told the reason why it's a good movie, doesn't mean I approved all the things in the movie, but certainly I think it's a usual film compare to most other hollywood film.

Also another film you should look for about the African American experiences during the 50's I believe, it's called "The Express." I hope it'll inspire you and bring honor to our African American brothers.
