Romans 7 Meditation - 2 husbands

Romans 7:4 Therefore, my [c]fellow believers, you too died to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. When we were living in the flesh [trapped by sin], the sinful passions, which were awakened by [that which] the Law [identifies as sin], were at work in our body to bear fruit for death [since the willingness to sin led to death and separation from God]. But now we have been released from the Law and its penalty, having died [through Christ] to that by which we were held captive, so that we serve [God] in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter [of the Law].

Here Paul is using the analogy of marriage to explain our condition. When you are marry to the first husband if you marry another you commit adultery. If your first husband died, you are free from the law! You can marry another. The same way our first husband is our sinful nature our flesh. We constantly is seeking way to please the flesh and to live to fulfill its evil desires. But since we died with Christ on the cross, we are free from this first husband and marry to the second Christ!! Now we are seeking ways to please the Holy Spirit (The Spirit of Christ) as our husband because we are released from the first. The mind dictates by the flesh is death, but the mind dictates by the Holy Spirit is life and peace. When we seek to fulfill and to please and to serve our second husband, to love and protect such intimate relationship that's living in our body the Holy Spirit, we would bear fruits of life and peace that will remain forever. Now Paul is exerting us to no longer live for our first husband, but the second. Consider yourself dead to the first husband that demanding husband where you see no return and no benefit, but only temporary pleasure, that husband is dead. Now consider yourself alive to your second husband that is the Lord! The Holy Spirit is our new soulmate that will bring fulfillment and happiness to our desires, we are building a new life and home with the Holy Spirit.
